Movement Coaching & Personal Training for Everyday Strength

Build strength through better movement.

Personalised movement coaching and strength training designed around your body, your goals, and your starting point.

TK Movement supports adults who want to move better, become stronger, and build confidence in exercise.

Whether you're returning after injury, managing persistent pain, or simply wanting to improve your movement, coaching begins where you are.

Guided by Taikan Kai principles of awareness, respect, and embodied understanding.

Every client is treated as an individual, with coaching adapted to their background, goals, and circumstances. Building trust and long-term relationships is at the centre of how I coach.

Why TK Movement

Most people don't need to be pushed harder.

They need to move better.

At TK Movement, strength is built on a foundation of movement quality, body awareness, and progressive coaching. Rather than chasing exhaustion or quick fixes, every session is designed to help you develop confidence, move more efficiently, and build strength that lasts.
Whether you're returning from injury, starting exercise for the first time, or simply wanting to feel more capable, coaching begins where you are and progresses at your pace.

Safe progression

Exercise is adapted to the individual, with a focus on control, confidence, and sustainable progress rather than rushed intensity.

Personal understanding

Coaching is informed by lived experience of injury recovery, as well as a strong background in teaching movement and body awareness.

Long-term focus

The goal is not short-term hype. It is better movement, greater independence, and improved quality of life over time.

About

TK Movement is the personal training and movement coaching brand of Dan Brighurst, created to support people who need a calmer, more thoughtful approach to exercise.

Dan's coaching combines movement coaching, strength training, and body awareness to help people build strength safely and confidently. Every programme begins by understanding how you move before progressively developing strength, resilience, and long-term capability.

The service is especially suited to those who have felt excluded by mainstream fitness culture or who need a more individualised starting point.

Dan has an NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Exercise, has an NZQA Level 3 Certificate in Coaching, and is a martial arts instructor and founder of Taikan Kai Karate.

Sessions aim to reduce fear around movement and replace it with structure, clarity, and gradual progress.

TK Movement is guided by Taikan Kai principles while operating as an independent personal training service.
