Safe progression
Exercise is adapted to the individual, with a focus on control, confidence, and sustainable progress rather than rushed intensity.
Safe, structured coaching
TK Movement supports adults dealing with chronic pain, previous injury, or reduced confidence in exercise. The focus is on safe strength, better movement, and long-term quality of life.
Designed for people dealing with chronic pain, previous injury, or reduced confidence in exercise — while still supporting general strength and movement goals.
Guided by Taikan Kai principles of awareness, respect, and embodied understanding.
Every client is treated as an individual, with coaching adapted to their background, goals, and circumstances. Building trust and long-term relationships is at the centre of how I coach.
This is not about pushing through pain or chasing intensity for its own sake. It is about rebuilding trust in your body, developing strength safely, and creating a foundation for long-term resilience.
Exercise is adapted to the individual, with a focus on control, confidence, and sustainable progress rather than rushed intensity.
Coaching is informed by lived experience of injury recovery, as well as a strong background in teaching movement and body awareness.
The goal is not short-term hype. It is better movement, greater independence, and improved quality of life over time.
TK Movement is the personal training and movement coaching brand of Dan Brighurst, created to support people who need a calmer, more thoughtful approach to exercise.
Dan’s coaching approach combines strength training, functional movement, and martial arts-based body awareness. It is designed for people who want to improve mobility, rebuild strength after injury, and feel more capable in everyday life.
The service is especially suited to those who have felt excluded by mainstream fitness culture or who need a more individualised starting point.
Dan is completing a NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Exercise, has a NZQA Level 3 Certificate in Coaching, and is a martial arts instructor and founder of Taikan Kai Karate.
Sessions aim to reduce fear around movement and replace it with structure, clarity, and gradual progress.
TK Movement is guided by Taikan Kai principles while operating as an independent personal training service.
